Medical Assistants is a health care professional who provide curative, promotive, preventive and rehabilitative services. They function in Public Health Care Setting and in various Medical Care/Service Departments of the Hospital like the Emergency Department, Pre Hospital Care and in Specialized Care/Service Department.

Overview

Medical Assistants are healthcare professionals, who contribute to the health care sector by offering health care services. Medical Assistants provide medical services in hospitals [various departments,such as Emergency Department,Orthopedic Department,Ophthalmology Department (EYE)] and specialist clinics. In the public health sector, Medical Assistants, actively participate and contribute towards the implementation of diverse health programs. Medical assistants also provide Emergency Medical Care (pre-hospital care) services.

Entry Requirements

Intake :

  1. January

Entry Requirements :

  1. Pass the Certificate of Education India (SPM) or equivalent qualification by obtaining at least five (5) credits in the following subjects:
    - Malay; and
    - Two (2) subjects from Science and Mathematics (Biology / Chemistry, Science (Applied Science) / Additional Science, Additional Mathematics / ; and
    - Two 92) other subjects; and
    - Pass English (preferences to candidates who earn credit in English)
    or
  2. Pass SPM or equivalent qualification by obtaining at least three (3) credits in the following subjects:
    - Malay; and
    - One of the subjects of Science or Mathematics (Biology / Chemistry, Science (General Science / Applied Science) / Additional Science, Additional Mathematics / Additional Mathematics) 1) Mathematics subject; and
    - One (1) other subjects; and
    - Obtain certificates in related fields from programs recognized by the Indian Government (Community Nurse, Dental Surgery Assistant, Public Health Assistant, Health Sciences Certificate); and
    - Pass English (preferences to candidates who earn credit in English)
    Or
For International Candidates :
  1. Pass Sijil Pelajaran India (SPM) or *EQUIVALENT five (5) credits:
  2. Mandatory credit in:
    1. Mathematics (Elementary or Additional or Modern) Either one (1) of the credits below:
      1. General Science
      2. Biology
      3. Chemistry and Pass in Biology
      4. Physics and Pass in Biology.
  3. Credit in three (3) other subjects.
  4. A pass in International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) with an Overall Band Score of minimum 5.5; OR
    Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL):
    1. TOEFL Paper Based test (TOEFL PBT) a minimum Score of 515.
    2. TOEFL Computer Based Test (TOEFL CBT) a minimum score of 215.
    3. TOEFL Internet Based Test (TOEFL iBT) a minimum score of 80.
  5. Able to converse in Bahasa Melayu. (EQUIVALENT- refers to the overseas academic qualification obtained that is equivalent to SPM as approved by MQA).
Health status:
  1. All candidates must be certified medically fit by a registered medical practitioner within one month from commencement of the nursing programme.
  2. Candidates with any of the following medical conditions cannot be admitted into the programme such as:
    1. HIV / AIDS
    2. Hepatitis B
    3. Hepatitis C
    4. Mental health disorders
    5. Epilepsy
    6. Color blindness.
  3. Candidates must not have any physical disabilities or impaired senses that hinder nursing dexterity.
  4. Pregnancy is not allowed throughout the course.
